Here we go!
I thought we’d do things a little different today. I studied Belmont, Churchill Downs, Santa Anita and even Gulfstream. With all the carryovers and opportunities I decided to just provide some guidance, analysis and insight as opposed to SPOT PLAYS. I thought today that may be more helpful, and there was a lot of information to get out.
We also have a complete analysis of the strong Stephen Foster card at Churchill Downs by none other than Jimmy W. That is listed in our regular guest columns section. I guess we should get to the matters at hand………
Race 3- #2 Microrithims, single for me in any early multi race wagers, looks like a potential bullet from Bob. Jogs.
Easy Winner as called!!!
Race 5- Starts a very tough Pick 6 that will have a huge pool when all is said and done. My top choice is the #1 Junior Gilliam who I think sits a good trip here, but gotta be alive and he’s not a single for me, using #1, #3, #4, #6, #7, and #8. The #6 is probably my second choice if you are looking to go narrow. If I’m not alive I don’t deserve to be.
Winner with the #6 and alive at 18-1 !!!
Race 6- #4 Sircat Sally, Pick 6 single for me, not going to get cute here, hopefully she can run off another one here. I’d love to beat her for the value, and if the other races weren’t so deep I might try, but can’t get there today. Fingers crossed.
Race 7- I’ll use a few here for sure, but my top choice and a horse I will play separately is the #6 Rick’s Dream. A must use in my opinion. He definitely looks like he can go forward in his second start off the bad break. 6-1 Morning Line seems fair. The #11 and # 13 are also must uses.
Winner, #11 5-1
I will be spreading in races 8 and 10, although in race 10 the #2, #6, # 11 and #13 are the ones I lean to.
Winner Race 10, #6
In race 9 I have narrowed it down to #2, #3, #6, #7, and #9. I have some nice prices there so maybe I can make something happen in the Pick 4 or 6 especially with the spread races.
The #2, #6, and #9 all hit the wire together at 18-1, 9-2, and 6-1, Winner and not bad but of course the 9-2 gets it……the #2 at 18-1 ran huge, caught last jump…
Belmont Park (WASHED OUT AND CANCELLED CARD EARLY)
Race 2- #1 Air Vice Marshal is a single for me.
Pulled up, blame the weather…
Race 3- #2 Clipthecouponannie is another single. Tracking Trips horse Wonderment who I have been waiting “hard” for is in there. I don’t think she can beat Annie so I will single Annie and play a ice-cold 2-4 EXACTA hard.
Winner, sort of!!!
The #2 didn’t run a step in slop after breaking poorly and of course the TRACKING TRIPS horse we were all waiting for Wonderment off two hidden troubled trips wins easy at 9-1 in a small field, never should have let that one get away, good to hear some of you had it, major blunder for me!
Race 5- #3 Itsinthestars is yet another single for me in what may be a very chalky Pick 5. it may pay to just pass it up, but personally I won’t. If I wind up right in the 1st and 4th races, and hit the cold exacta, it could turn out ok on a small investment.
Race 7- #6 Rockford looks to be sitting on a big one, and I’ll lean and land here.
McCracken in the 5th, and Gun Runner in the 8th, both look easy and obvious. That’s almost never good, and it begs to try and beat one or both. That said tearing up tickets is never fun. Both should get it down barring the bizarre or significant rider errors.
Winners, McCracken and Gun Runner both win like they were supposed too…..
Rave 6- #2 Bondurant, at 8-1 M/L this one fits well and should offer good value here. No standout and a tough race but a must use and go back at horse for me.
Used the winner in spread race but top choice Bondurant stayed close to the pace and had no kick….
Race 7- #2 Walkabout, an old TRACKING TRIPS horse who as delivered and may keep on giving here. She has gotten good at the right time. 10-1 M/L looks awfully attractive.
Walkabout didn’t fire but winner was easy, Forever Unbridled, obvious must use for anyone.
Race 9- I’ll spread but lean on and go back at #2 Sweeping Party, I see an improved race coming today, and I like Luis on this filly from an inside draw. Tough race, and again I’ll spread but lean on this one rather heavy. Real heavy!
Winner at 9-2, #2 Sweeping Party going away!
I’ll have to make things happen early as in the finale, race 11, I’ll be on the same one as many others, #3 Enterprising, too classy for these unless something fluky happens. In the last leg of a mandatory payout that is always possible, so maybe I throw in #5 Squadron at 20-1 M/L. I’ll respect myself more in the morning.
Squadron scratched, and Enterprising didn’t fire at all……..Gulfstream in the summer????
