2017 Breeders’ Cup Friday in The Books, Here Are Some Highlights…

November 4, 2017

Friday went off without a glitch, handle was up, and we were witness to some big performances on Day One of the 2017 Breeders’ Cup. Battle of Midway was huge in the Mile, Mendelssohn in the turf was super impressive, Rolling Fall ran big and Forever Unbridled was lights out in the Turf. You can read about them and more below.

Charles Fipke has to pay winning jockey John Velazquez his winning mount fee for the ride on Forever Unbridled, however he owes Joel Rosario just as much for sitting in the jocks presumably watching. Fipke fired Rosario late after giving him the call on what was his regular mount. Chad Brown owns the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Filly turf getting his first Breeders’ Cup win in the race a few years ago with Maram. He hasn’t stopped much since. Handle was up, the track was fast but fair, the turf was fine as well, Kudos to Del Mar and all the winning connections.
