Churchill Downs Bans Daily Racing Form

November 25, 2017

The headline reads like a bad joke: Churchill Downs has banned the Daily Racing Form, opting instead to develop its own product, the Churchill Downs Betting Guide.

When you own the Kentucky Derby you have a very big stick to swing around, but in the end it is what you do with it that counts. Do you do what is best for the game, which ultimately includes you, or do you do what you think might be best for you and you alone in the short term?

I think the answer here is evident, and this is an exercise in futility and is doomed to fail. Let’s hope it isn’t too much of an inconvenience for the bettors. Some of us they they actually count. Free choice, it is a wonderful thing and it should definitely extend to your chosen past performances.

Bad call by Churchill Downs here to ban the Daily Racing Form. If you two entities need a mediator I’d be happy to help.

Great article and you are absolutely right. However your piece is sensible and logical- something that doesn't register with the opposition (who rely on emotion and "siege tactics")
