Frankie Dettori Dominates Ascot

June 20, 2019

Frankie Dettori has been one of the most successful jockeys at the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting and today showed us why. Frankie took the first 4 races on the card and almost took a fifth.

Frankie started in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes aboard A’Ali for trainer Simon Crisford. Simon and Frankie go way back together to the Godolphin days.

Dettori came right back in the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes aboard Sangarius for trainer Sir Michael Stoute.

Red hot Frankie Dettori kept in going in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes on Star Catcher for trainer John Gosden.

The race everyone expected Frankie to win did not disappoint as Stradivarius made it back to back wins in the Group 1 two and one half mile Gold Cup, again for trainer John Gosden. This was Frankie’s seventh Gold Cup Victory.

Dettori almost made it five in a row when Turgenev surged to the front, opening up two lengths in the Class 2 Handicap. It was not to be, however, as Harry Bentley was poised for his first Royal Ascot win on Biometric. Biometric went past Turgenev late to win going away.

Aidan O’Brien refused to be blanked taking the final Handicap on the card with his South Pacific ridden by J. A. Heffernan.
